Modern Foreign Languages in the Primary School

Welcome to the Early Language Learning Regional Support Group (ELL RSG) for the Leicestershire Region. On behalf of the DfES and in accordance with the National Languages Strategy, CILT is managing a network of ELL RSGs across the country, and the Leicestershire Centre is one of these.

• We have at least 5 ELL RSG twilight sessions each year, at no cost to participating teachers (but please let us know if you wish to come along!). We welcome primary and secondary teachers to these meetings.
  
  
• We generally hold 2 ELL RSG sessions in the Autumn and Spring terms and one in the Summer term. Details of these sessions and other ELL events can be found on our website and will be notified by flyer to each relevant school in the region.
  
  
• The national ELL website is at www.nacell.org.uk. NACELL is the National Advisory Centre on Early Language Learning, based at CILT (Centre for Information on Language Teaching and Research). See www.cilt.org.uk. The NACELL website gives details of CILT ELL training courses in this country and abroad. NACELL can be contacted at nacell@cilt.org.uk.
  
  
• Primary schools wishing to develop ELL in the curriculum will find that the CILT DIRECT PRIMARY scheme offers a fully comprehensive package of information and support. Details of this scheme can be found at www.nacell.org.uk/ciltdirect.htm.
